Lajitas is situated on FM 170 between the Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park, along the Rio Grande River.
By car
From Midland-Odessa. Approximately 245 miles. Head West on IH-20 to Monahans. Take Highway 18 South left toward Fort Stockton, then turn right onto FM 1776. Cross over IH-10 West. FM 1776 turns into US-67 South. Follow US-67 55 miles to Alpine, then turn left onto SH-118 South Cockrell Street. Follow SH-118 South 80 miles to the Study Butte-Terlingua junction, then turn right onto FM 170 and continue 14 miles to Lajitas.
From El Paso, approximately 300 miles. Take IH-10 East 118 miles to Van Horn. Take US-90 78 miles through Marfa. Continue to Alpine and turn right onto SH-118 South Cockrell Street. Follow SH-118 South 80 miles to the Study Butte-Terlingua junction, then turn right onto FM 170 and continue 14 miles to Lajitas.
